When should I call CMN?
As an insured, you should call CMN before seeking medical services overseas or if you are traveling overseas and suddenly find yourself faced with a medical emergency. The patient, a family member or a hospital representative is usually required to contact CMN or the insurer within 48 hours of the incident or admission.
Should your condition clearly be life threatening, you should call the appropriate medical service, such as 911 emergency, an ambulance or the fire rescue unit immediately before calling CMN.

Upon entering an overseas hospital, clinic or specialist office, we recommend you provide them with your insurance information and suggest they contact CMN to verify your benefits and coordinate the billing process.

Should I call CMN if I need a medical evacuation?

Yes. You need to contact CMN immediately upon being informed you or a family member needs a medical evacuation. A CMN Case Manager will coordinate transportation between hospitals, with the physicians, as well as with the Air Ambulance Company. The Case Manager will also ensure the necessary documentation, such as medical visas and medical records are completed and referred to the proper parties.

Can an insured seek medical care overseas?
Yes. An insured can travel to the USA or overseas to receive medical care upon being referred by a local physician or electing to seek care overseas. You are encouraged to call your local insurer's office to pre-certify the overseas care and be referred to CMN for assistance, coordination and management. The pre-certification of your case will allow you to benefit from the services offered by CMN and reduce or limit your out-of-pocket financial liability.

What is the purpose of pre-certification?
International healthcare is complex and sophisticated. CMN will guide and help you determine if the care is appropriate, determine the extent of your policy benefits and assist you with coordinating care delivery.

Is CMN a medical service?
No. Although many of our staff are nurses or trained case managers, CMN is not a medical provider. It is an extension of your insurance policy and a service provided to accommodate the insured's and the Healthcare Providers servicing its insured's with assistance and the administrative process.

Will CMN help for on-Island medical services?
CMN has been designed to help and assist while you are traveling overseas and internationally. Your local Insurer's office should be your first point of contact for on-Island services and hospitalization. Their number can be found on your Insurer's identification card.

Can CMN assist me in locating an overseas Healthcare Provider or a hospital that is part of the PPO network?
Yes. We work with patients and referring physicians to locate and facilitate access to PPO network Healthcare Providers. CMN can direct you towards a PPO network Healthcare Provider and help minimize your co-insurance and out of pocket while conserving your Lifetime Benefit Maximum.

Will CMN pay my medical bills?
That depends. CMN has the ability to pay medical bills and does so for some clients. CMN will negotiate the acceptance of assignment of benefits with the Healthcare Providers, virtually eliminating the need for the patient to provide a large payment prior to treatment.

The overseas Healthcare Provider has billed me, the insured. What do I do?
Although CMN tries to make arrangements to receive all medical overseas bills, it may happen that a bill maybe forwarded to your address. In this situation, immediately forward the bill to your local Insurer's office or call CMN. We will review the bill and advise you if there is an out-of-pocket residual that is your responsibility.

The CMN network consists of over 7,000 acute care facilities and over 400,000 physicians and specialists worldwide in 130 countries.

The PPO network covers all medical specialties such as specialized diagnostics testing, neo-natal care, cardiac care, serious trauma injuries or burns, oncology, orthopedic, general to specialized surgery and organ transplants.

No. Through CMN's network, CMN can provide access to Healthcare Providers all over the world and particularly in Canada, USA, the Caribbean, Latin America, UK, South Africa, Europe and Asia

Does CMN help patients throughout their medical treatment?
Yes. CMN has Case Managers whose primary role is not only to monitor the care the patient received, but also to communicate clearly and regularly with the patient and family, provide logistical assistance when required and coordinate care with the Healthcare Providers and your insurer.
