Alex Kroon – President and Chief Executive Officer
Alex joined CMN as Chief Operating Officer in April 2005 and was promoted to President and CEO in November 2007. Since 2005, CMN has more than tripled in revenues, been acquired by Europ Assistance and successfully expanded products, markets and capabilities. Alex is also the President of GMMI which was acquired in 2008. He holds a degree in engineering physics from Queens University. Alex has held senior leadership positions in both entrepreneurial and corporate environments, including being on the leadership team of two successful startup companies. He has also been directly responsible for running operations for the Canadian division of a global company, launching new products and assisting organizations to improve the effectiveness of their people, processes and technology.

 

With over 20 years of leadership experience obtained in the cost containment, assistance, technology, telecom, and consulting sectors, Alex brings a diverse and well rounded senior leadership background to CMN. In addition to his responsibilities at CMN, he is also the President of other Europ Assistance divisions, which include GMMI and Europ Assistance Canada. As the head of CMN’s executive leadership team, his leadership has been, and will continue to be, instrumental in the stewardship of CMN’s significant growth, prosperity and improvement.

Peter Lozier – Chief Network Officer

Peter joined CMN in February 2001 and was appointed Chief Network Officer (CNO) in July 2011. Prior to being appointed CNO, Peter was CMN's Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Provider Relations since November 2007. As CMN’s new CNO, Peter will continue to lead CMN’s US network management and development, while assisting CMN and Europ Assistance to significantly expand their global medical network as part of a new strategic initiative. He holds a degree in kinesiology from the University of Guelph and is a member of the Insurance Institute of America. Peter has been in the healthcare cost containment industry for most of his professional career, beginning in the insurance industry at the medical assistance level; advancing to claims management and provider relations; and then moving into business development.

 

With over 15 year’s experience, Peter has a solid knowledge base of the Canadian and International medical, insurance and cost containment industries. As a member of CMN’s executive leadership team, he has been – and will continue to be – instrumental in driving CMN’s growth and prosperity.

Derrick Davidson – Chief Operating Officer

Derrick assumed the role of Vice President, Operations at CMN in November 2007 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in July 2011. As CMN’s COO, Derrick will be responsible for all aspects of CMN including Operations, Sales, and Account Management. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Manitoba. Derrick has held senior leadership positions in life and disability claims, in force administration, market conduct and compliance, and internal audit. In a previous role, he was directly responsible for blocks of business in the Caribbean, which given CMN’s presence in that market is a key strength.

 

With over 20 years of experience in the Canadian and international life and health insurance industry, along with extensive experience in project management, mergers, and acquisitions, Derrick brings a very diverse and well-rounded background to CMN. As a member of CMN’s executive leadership team, he has been – and will continue to be – instrumental in driving CMN’s growth and prosperity.

Ken Gibbons, C.A. – Chief Financial Officer

Ken joined CMN as Chief Financial Officer in February 2011.  He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor and the Canadian Chartered Accountant (CA) designation. Prior to joining CMN, Ken has held several senior level finance roles within various sectors and was most recently the Vice President of Finance at a large automotive parts supplier.  

 

With over 20 years of experience dealing with global operations, mergers and acquisitions, financial controls and management obtained in the automotive, accounting and manufacturing industries, Ken brings a strong and varied financial background to CMN. In addition to his responsibilities at CMN, he will also oversee Finance across the other Europ Assistance divisions, which include GMMI and Europ Assistance Canada. As a member of CMN’s executive leadership team, he will be instrumental in driving CMN’s growth and prosperity.

Reid Cawston – Vice President, Sales and Account Management

Reid joined CMN as Executive Director, Account Management in August 2009 and was appointed Vice President, Sales and Account Management in July 2011. As CMN’s Vice President, Sales and Account Management, Reid will lead the team responsible for selling and servicing CMN’s core business globally. He is a graduate of the Hahnemann College of Homoeopathy (UK) and attended the program on negotiations at Harvard University. Prior to joining CMN, he was the Executive Director, Strategic Partnerships at a leading U.S. healthcare insurer. There, he was responsible for developing partnerships with insurance companies around the world.

 

With over a 20 years of healthcare experience obtained in both the insurance and healthcare delivery fields, Reid brings a strong consultative, customer centric approach to relationship and account development background to CMN.

Rosanna Fisico – Director, Business Excellence

Rosanna joined CMN in 1998 as Director, Quality Assurance and was appointed Director, Business Excellence in April 2012. As one CMN’s original team members, she has contributed to the growth and success of CMN by developing, implementing and operating company-wide business processes, enabling the company to thrive and be strategically positioned in the international cost containment market. Rosanna has also held the position of Manager, Claims, and led with a philosophy that fostered ownership, quality processing, and customer service excellence. Rosanna’s analysis and creation of workflow structures led to the adoption of EDI technology in the daily processing of U.S. medical claims.

 

With over 20 years experience in the insurance industry, including U.S. healthcare claims and a commitment and passion for quality assurance and business excellence, Rosanna has been instrumental in ensuring CMN remains focused on quality, customer service and risk management.

Dr. Kim Panovka – Medical Director
Dr. Panovka joined CMN as Medical Director in January 2004. She holds both a MBBCH degree and a post-graduate DTM&H degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. Prior to joining CMN, Dr. Panovka spent several years as the General Manager/Medical Director for Europ Assistance in South Africa, practiced in trauma and intensive care units, and was a flight doctor on air ambulances.

 

With over 15 years of medical experience including extensive U.S. and international experience in trauma, emergency medicine, and air ambulance services, as well as, her vast experience as a medical consultant in the health insurance industry with a specific focus on U.S. medical cases, Dr. Kim Panovka provides a wealth of medical expertise to CMN.

Lisa Cook – Director, Human Resources
Lisa joined CMN as Director, Human Resources in January 2007.  She holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Queen’s University, as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in human resource management (CHRP) from Seneca College.  Prior to joining CMN, Lisa was the Human Resources Manager for one of Canada’s largest automotive manufacturers. There she was responsible for recruitment, employee relations, organizational development, performance, and team management.

 

With over a decade of human resources and management experience obtained in both the automotive and healthcare industries, Lisa brings a strong organizational development and employee relations background to CMN.

Brad Loder – Director, Marketing
Brad joined CMN as Director of Marketing in July 2009. He holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo and earned his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Niagara University. Prior to joining CMN, Brad was the Director of Marketing for one of Canada’s oldest financial institutions. In this leadership role, he was responsible for the development of the company’s annual marketing plans, branding, and print and online advertising initiatives.

 

With nearly a decade of marketing experience obtained in both the insurance and financial services industries, Brad brings a strong marketing, communications, product management, and team management background to CMN.

Dr. Sameer Khan – Director, Claims and Repricing

Dr. Sameer Khan joined CMN in November 2010. He holds a Medical Degree from Gr.T.P. University of Medicine in Romania. Dr. Sameer Khan also has the Associate of Life Management institute (ALMI), Associate of Customer Service (ACS) and Certificate of Medical Underwriting from LOMA. Prior to joining CMN, he was the International Claims Manager for a leading TPA based in Abu Dhabi. There he was responsible for setting up the claims unit, medical reviews, cost containment, auditing and F&A management processes and procedures. Having participated actively on several private and government projects Dr. Sameer Khan was part of the team which pioneered the e-claim initiative in the region.

 

With nearly a decade of experience in the medical and life insurance and the healthcare management field, Dr. Khan brings a strong international claims operations and management background to CMN.
